la la la, I'm back. My trip was
amazing, it was sooo beautiful and inspiring. I shall tell you all about it.
On Wednesday morning we left at 5:00 AM, very early, and I slept for the next couple of hours. It takes about 6 to 6 and a half hours to get there. Then I read and we listened to some tapes . . . the usual "in the car" stuff. When we got to our hotel we had to wait a while because we were early. When we finally got in though, we settled in, and that night we went to the Rideau Centre, which is *takes deep breath* a four story mall. I was going crazy, shopping!!!!! It was so big though, you almost felt overwhelmed, it was CRAZY I tell you. CRAZY. But I bought a purse there, it's really cool, it's blue, and I like it. There were so many different stores that I haven't seen before too . . . like a nylon store. I'm serious. There were some really funky designs, it was so funny, the lady at the desk was like, "We just got our new spring stuff in!" I was like, OK. lol. The bottom floor was a huge food court, and as you went up floors, the stoors got nicer, and the clothes and stuff more expensive. Of course *sigh*
Wednesday we also went to Quebec (a couple minutes away from where we were) and went to the Canadian Musuem of Civilization. We looked around a bit, till we went to the IMAX theatre which is in the musuem. We watched a show called "To the Limit", about certain people who pushed themselves and their bodies to "the unknown." lol. There was a rock climber, skiier, and a prima ballerina. It was domed (sp?) too, which was cool. The ballerina part was sooo amazing though . . . she went to the school in Russia, which is the best in the world I'm told. They are so strict there though . . . I heard on the news the other day that they fired one of their top ballerinas for being 105 pounds. That's pretty sad.
Thursday we went to the Royal Canadian Mint, which was quite interesting to see. It's where they make all of Canada's money. Not the circulated coins, that moved to Montreal, but the specialty collector coins. The process is so long though to make one coin! To make it truly worth its money as a collector coin. At the end, when they package the coin, they can't even get dust on it, it will decrease it's value! One really neat thing was that at the end of the tour we took, we got to hold (it was chained and had an officer watching it) a pure block of real gold, totally pure. In total it cost about $300,000. wow, lol.
After that we missed our tour to the National Gallery, but we drove around and looked around for a bit. We saw a procession coming out of this church too, all wearing green, because it was St. Patrick's day, and the church was called St. Patrick's Cathedral. Too coincidental. :P
At 2:00 PM we had a tour of Rideau Hall, a huge palace basically, where the Governor General of Canada lives, Adrienne Clarkson. I mean, her royal majesty Adrienne Clarkson. *wink* oopsies. :P wow, that place is amazing. The inside, I think the tour guy said that there's 107 rooms or around there. We got to view a couple of the big public rooms . . . the others were her private ones which we couldn't go in. At the time when we were there, the Captain of the Guard was there as well, visiting with the Governor General, so when we went up to the main hallway, the tour guy said, "If everyone could take their hats off in case they walk through." It was kinda funny cause I was the only with a hat on, and it didn't help that my hair went frizzy that day and I looked like . . . I don't know, really bad, lol. Oh well. I'll put some pictures of the place below :D
Thursday night!!!! We went to the CInderella ballet. That was the best part of the trip. I don't know what to say about it, except that it was sooo amazing. They're all so good, it's depressing, LOL. I brought binoculars to the play though, so I got to see close up. One really cool thing to see was the guys dancing. Not in . . . that way, lol, but it's very rare that guys ever dance, and they were doing all these turns, it was really neat to see. They had a little stand there with stuff you could buy from the National, so I got a shirt and a poster that two people signed for me. :D:D:D
Friday, our last day there, we went to the Parliament Buildings, and some more looking around town. We spent quite a while at the Parliament Buildings, it was cool to be in the place where all these dignitaries are, where hey make all the decisions for Canada. Not only that, the place is amaing, all these ornate things in it, splendour really. The insides are all stone, which is carved into and very elaborate.
We went up to the Peace Tower as well . . . the big long thing that you see in front of the building. :P It was really high . . . I took lots of pictures from up there.
Before we left to drive home, we went to Second Cup to get a drink, and then started out again.
We drove for about three, four hours, and we stopped for dinner. When we got back out to drive again though, my Dad's old Jetta car wouldn't start. It eventually did, but the motor was grunting, seriously, and we couldm't go fast at all, because we were scared we were going to blow something up, and we were losing power anyways. So by the time we had driven about 20 minutes, we had to pull over to the side of the road, and then the engine did a lot BOOM, and smoke came out from the hood. haha, it was a bit embarrasing. :P We didn't know what to do though . . . we weren't near Toronto yet, and still quite a ways from home. We have relatives (Eowyn and her family), but they still lived an hour and a half away. But this truck stopped in front of us, that said he could tow us to his car pound, and then we would get Eowyn's Dad to pick us up. (my uncle) It was a bit scary driving with these people in their car, because the car had skulls on the back, painted on in a picture, and there were already four people riding in the car (including the driver.) But somehow we managed to squeeze all in, and we got to his pound, emptied out our little Jetta car, and then drove to a Wendy's (it was about 11:00 PM) and emptied out all of our luggage there to wait for my Uncle. haha, we had emptied the car right out too, which meant we had car cabled sticking out of boxes, my Dad's old boots sticking out of another box, pillows, and the luggage we took with us . . . in a Wendy's, with people there. *sigh* That was . . . interesting.
Finally my Uncle picked us up though, we slept over at their house, and in the morning we got a rental car to take us back home.
Quite the little adventure. :P
But I had an amazing trip. Hey, at least the car broke down at the END of it. :P Try to find something good about that all. :P
Well, school is calling . . . I have lots more to say, but it will all have to wait.
Below are some pictures from my trip. ^_^
Cheers my wonderful friendsies!
